Best family restaurants in the area
While our own restaurant is perfect for family dining, if you’re staying with us to explore the area then you might like to discover some new places to eat while you’re out and about.
Devon and Cornwall are renowned for their fresh fish, wild and farmed produce, so we’re certainly not short of delicious food or great places to eat in the area. If you’re stuck for where to start, here are our personal recommendations for great places to take the kids for dinner:
The Countryman Inn Restaurant, Langdon Cross nr. Launceston
A traditional inn serving great pub-style classics (the fish & chips are a particular favourite), with plenty of child-friendly facilities including a play area and high chairs.
The Deck, Bude
This laidback restaurant serves really tasty food inspired by the owners’ travels, combining the best of Asian street food with the seafood of Europe and the chargrilled flair from Down Under. We recommend booking ahead for this one as they tend to fill up even during the week.
Rising Sun Inn, Alternun nr. Launceston
This 16th Century Inn & Restaurant on the edge of Bodmin Moor serves fresh local produce and locally produced ales in a warm and inviting traditional pub atmosphere.
Taste of the Himalayas, Launceston
If you like a good curry, this contemporary Nepalese and Indian restaurant will be right up your street. Their menu is vast, and they even do chicken nuggets and chips if your little ones don’t like spicy food.
The Weir, nr. Bude
This is great place to take younger children. There’s a large outdoor play area, plenty of wildlife, and a small interactive wildlife exhibit to keep them amused. There’s also a dedicated children’s menu.
The Basement, Padstow
If you’re looking for something a bit more upmarket but still family friendly, why not enjoy a dinner overlooking Padstow Harbour? They welcome families of all ages and have a specially tailored and flexible children’s menu, or they will even do smaller portions of their adult meals.
The Springer Spaniel, Treburley nr. Launceston
With an award-winning reputation for great food and drink, the Springer is also extremely family friendly with an array of board games to entertain the little ones and menus to match.
